Aran Valley or simply Aran (in Occitan: Val d'Aran, Aran; in Catalan: Vall d'Aran; in Spanish: Valle de Arán) is a mountain valley of the Pyrenees and a semi-autonomous zone belonging to the autonomous region of Catalonia, in Spain. It has 9 815 inhabitants over an area of 633.60 km². The capital city is Vielha. There are three official languages: Occitan (see Aranese Occitan) which is the native tongue, Catalan and Spanish. Aran is a famous destination for mountain tourism.
