Mercury is a chemical element, typically found as a liquid in its elemental form. It has the chemical symbol Hg (from the Latin hydrargyrum), atomic number (number of protons) Z = 80, and a standard atomic weight of 200.59 g/mol.
Mercury is considered a member of the "Transition metal" class of elements. At a pressure of 101.325 kPa, it has a boiling point of 356.73 °C and a melting point of −38.83 °C.
