Actinide [r]: A chemical element belonging to a group whose atomic number is between 89 (Actinium the groups namesake), and 103 (Lawrencium) inclusive. Actinides are all radioactive, and Uranium (atomic number 92), and Plutonium (atomic number 94) are significant in the production of nuclear energy and nuclear weapons. [e]
