Notes on use

The DailyMed templates helps markup links to http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov, the U.S. National Library of Medicine (part of National Institutes of Health site that provides information on some US available medicines (much of information from FDA).

Parameters

  1. OPTIONAL - Drug ID number at DailyMed. This is obtained by searching http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/. A search plugin for FireFox, Internet Explorer 7+, and other browsers that use the OpenSearch standard is available at http://medinformatics.uthscsa.edu/searchplugins/.
  2. OPTIONAL - preparation name to be displayed within the CZ text.

Examples

There are three ways to use this template: 1. Easiest is to insert {{DailyMed}} on a page and the name of the page will be used to build the link to DailyMed.

Example for Valproic acid: 
Markup  {{DailyMed}}
Giving pagename -  FDA approved drug information (drug label) from DailyMed (U.S. National Library of Medicine).

2. If you want to control the search string sent to DailyMed, then the usage is:

Example for Codeine: 
Markup  {{DailyMed|codeine}}
Giving codeine -  FDA approved drug information (drug label) from DailyMed (U.S. National Library of Medicine).

3. If you want to control the exact page retrieved at DailyMed, then the usage is:

Example for the tylenol with codeine (acetaminophen and codeine phosphate) tablet which is listed only as the product from ORTHO-McNEIL PHARMACEUTICAL, INC.:
