Talk:Motor racing
Sources
I contributed a good deal of information about motor racing, especially the formative years, to numerous articles on another site and I am consolidating them in this article, which may eventually be split into components depending on size. My principal sources, however, are specialist websites such as www.teamdan.com and www.racing-database.com: I derived very little from the "other site". --John Leach 07:50, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Indy 500 is correct, not Indy500
Hi John, I did a minute's worth of checking and found that there's an official *website* called Indy500.com -- because, I assume, as we all know, spaces cannot be used between words in web address. But, once you get to that site, you will find that *they* refer to the race as the Indy 500, with a space between them. In about 60 years of vaguely following this race, I don't recall ever seeing it called the Indy500. Always has a space....Hayford Peirce 21:13, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Hayford. You're right. I'm afraid I've become too computerised after all these years of exposure! I've made changes to the article. All the best. --John Leach 17:34, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
"Tu te prends pour Fangio?"
Common saying in France from one vexed driver to another at one time. Sometimes "Sterling Moss" instead.... Hayford Peirce 18:24, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
