Phaethon [r]: From Greek mythology, he was the mortal son of the sun god. He asked for the privilege of driving the chariot of the sun for a single day, and died as a result, according to Elizabeth Vandiver, Classics scholar and authority on Greek mythology and Greek tragedy including the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, Homer, and Virgil.
