Nemean Lion

The Nemean lion was a creature in Greek mythology who lived in the land of Nemea and was killed by Heracles. There are differing accounts of the lion's origins; in one account, it was the offspring of Typhon and Echidna; in another, the offspring of Zeus and Selene; in another, the offspring of Chimera. It was the first labor of Heracles to slay the lion which had, in one account, fur that was impervious to arrows; so Heracles clubbed it, strangled it, and used the lion's own claws to cut off its pelt.
