Start

I tried to be as careful as I could in starting this article, though I am far from an expert on Chinese varieties or Japanese (I'm just a linguist with some experience of learning Japanese and bits of Mandarin and Cantonese). People who know more - especially if you use characters daily! - are most welcome to add, delete and modify. John Stephenson 08:25, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
