M 31 and Messier 31 all redirect here to NGC 224 even though there is a much more developed article Andromeda Galaxy. As a new user I am unsure whether I can be bold and redirect them to the Andromeda Galaxy article or not and also what to do about this article which is a short stub concerning the same topic.--Michael Geldorp 17:08, 26 May 2008 (CDT)

Good catch. This article has sufficiently little content that anything useful should be ported over to Andromeda Galaxy, with a note in the history for such a port referencing this page. This page should then be turned a redirect to that page. Or do you think the article should live at some other name? Certainly it's better known to the public as Andromeda, but if another name is more widely used among astronomers, we'd have to give some thought as to which to go with. (Or is Andromeda galaxy the more usual capitalization, BTW?). Let's hold off changing those other two redirects until we figure out what we're doing with the content. J. I would opt for Andromeda Galaxy (capitalized) as that is the more commonly known name among the public. There is something to be said for the more scientific naming of articles but for the most part I'd go with "common" names. In the meantime, I'll wait to make any changes here.--Michael Geldorp 11:06, 27 May 2008 (CDT)
Nah, if you see any useful content here, transplant it to Andromeda Galaxy, and then turn this into a redir. I'll fix all the other ones now (since it's staying there). J. Noel Chiappa 11:10, 27 May 2008 (CDT)
