The Attica Rebellion, also known as the Attica Prison riots or Attica Uprising, was a rebellion in the United States by individuals imprisoned in Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, New York in 1971. It originated from the prisoners' demands to improve prison conditions. Governor Nelson Rockefeller ordered troopers to quash the rebellion, and at least 29 people died as a result.
