Welcome, new editor! We're very glad you've joined us. Here are pointers for a quick start. Also, when you get a chance, please read The Editor Role. You can look at Getting Started and our help system for other introductory pages. It is also important, for project-wide matters, to join the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list. Announcements are also available via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see your edits on Recent changes soon.
Jared, I approved you as editors in the Engineering Workgroup and the Computers Workgroup. We look forward to your contributions.

Group Theory Article
What are we going to do with this article? I tend to agree with Greg Martin that it sounds a bit like a collection of facts, lacking narrative structure (no criticism of you or your writing intended!) I've tried suggesting a few ideas, but until my articles Complex number and Prime number were approved yesterday, I've pretty much had my hands full. I had intended to go on and write about some facet of differential geometry (or maybe just a basic article on manifolds), but now I'm beginning to think an article on Lie groups might not be a bad idea. - I agree with his comments. I'll continue this on the talk page. (I wont take it personally!) - Jared Grubb 02:17, 8 May 2007 (CDT)
John Logie Baird
Hello Jared,
Just a question for you -- I've been at work on the entry on John Logie Baird, which is in the Media workgroup as well as the Engineering Workgroup. Although I'm a Media Workgroup editor, I can't nominate the entry as I have done too much work on it. If you would have a look, and consider whether you feel it's ready to be nomated for Approval, I'd be grateful. Cheers, Russell Potter 19:46, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
- Hi again Jared,
- Many thanks for your note on my Talk page -- delighted you enjoyed the Baird entry.
- Nominating for Approval doesn't mean that nominator attests to the factuality of every detail in the entry, only that he or she feels the entry is of sufficient scope, quality of writing, etc. and is appropriate for the field. If you do decide to nominate it, you can ask the the Approvals timer be set for one, two, or more days in the future. The article then gets announced on our CZ:Approval_Announcements page, and this will bring the entry to the attention of many other people, in the field and outside it, to look it over and (hopefully) catch errors, make improvements, or raise questions about factuality or documentation.
- The easiest way make a nomination by leaving a note on the entry's talk page, and also letting one of our constables (D. Matt Innis or Stephen Ewen) know about it. They can then do the tagging or show you how to do it yourself.
- Thanks for considering this entry! Russell Potter 11:23, 8 July 2007 (CDT)
- I apologize for being slow. I intend to do it, but I've been very busy at work and haven't had time to sit down and figure this out (it's a new procedure that I've never done!) I will do it though, I promise! - Jared Grubb 09:46, 18 July 2007 (CDT)
Returning to Citizendium: an update on the project and how to get involved
Hello - some time ago you became part of the Citizendium project, but we haven't seen you around for a while. Perhaps you'd like to update your public biography or check on the progress of any pages you've edited so far.
Citizendium now has 16,469 articles, with 0 approved by specialist Editors such as yourself, but our contributor numbers require a boost. We have an initiative called 'Eduzendium' that brings in students enrolled on university courses to write articles for credit, but we still need more Editors across the community to write, discuss and approve material. There are some developed Engineering and Computers articles that could be improved and approved, and some high-priority Applied Arts and Sciences articles that we don't have yet. You can also create new articles via this guide, and contribute to some Engineering or Computers pages that have been recently edited here and here - or to any others on Citizendium, since you're a general Author as well as a specialist Editor. You may like to contribute to discussions in the forums, and might consider running for an elected position on the Management and Editorial Councils that oversee the project.
If you have any questions, let me know via my Talk page or by leaving a message below this one. Thank you for signing up and reading this update; I hope that you will look in on our community soon. John Stephenson 14:42, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
