Day 1

Christo, please fill out your user page! Reading only is ok before you do. Thanks, Nancy Sculerati MD 11:23, 28 January 2007 (CST)

Welcome to Citizendium! We are so pleased to have you, I think that you certainly qualify-once you state or refer us to your education and training details - to be an editor both in Health Sciences and in Healing Arts (for starters!) . Of course, you are welcome to author in any article you like. I, personally, look forward to your work here, as I suspect we share many interests. Warmly, Nancy Nancy Sculerati MD 12:21, 28 January 2007 (CST)

CCL

I like your page about the licences. I was messing around with some templates today [1], specifically for GFDL-user Cc-by-sa-2.5. i just copied everything from wikimedia and made a few CZ related modifications. I was copying them across since they can then be used with the media that gets imported from wikipedia and wikimedia commons. However, i have no clue about this stuff so any input would be great. From David Tribe

I visited Tygerberg in March last year, and talked to the fumonisin mycotoxin researchers there. Stayed at U Cape town Ronderbosch. And fell in love with the Cape again David Tribe 05:38, 12 February 2007 (CST)

Thanks

Thanks Christo, that was a great help. I doubt I'd be able to get down to it anytime soon as I'm gearing up for my AFP exams, but I'll keep it on my to-do list. ;)--Yim Kai-mun 19:15, 13 February 2007 (CST)

Spinal adjustment

I think there has just not been any discussion yet on Spinal adjustment. Lets just start one there and if it gets zapped, we'll just remeber what we said:) Matt Innis (Talk) 08:10, 17 February 2007 (CST)

Consider it gone! Hey, whay are you not down as a Healing arts editor? Matt Innis (Talk) 18:18, 18 February 2007 (CST)

Thanks Christo!

It's nice to be back.:-) Nancy Nancy Sculerati MD 13:47, 21 February 2007 (CST)

Cheers!

Cheers...and you're one of the few privileged to know and use my English name! :P I never did like it, but I am Christian and was given that name at birth. Thanks so much for the help; I really do appreciate it. :)--Yim Kai-mun 19:39, 21 February 2007 (CST)

Cosmetic plastic surgery, Chin Augmentation

Christo, I know these are not your actual specialties, (Cosmetic Surgery, Chin augmentation), but I hope that you will look them over. I started on "Chin Augmentation" when I noticed it the other day on recent changes, and then I started cosmetic surgery from there. Did you put your Pain article up while I was gone? Nancy Nancy Sculerati MD 05:59, 22 February 2007 (CST)

Healing arts

Christo, when you get a chance can you look at this? -Matt Innis (Talk) 12:57, 26 February 2007 (CST)

Christo, your help needed on chiropractic again!. -Matt Innis (Talk) 19:21, 4 March 2007 (CST)

Christo, I like your thoughts on article mechanics. This is the kind of work I would like to see onthe healing arts articles. --Matt Innis (Talk) 08:21, 6 March 2007 (CST)

Offline Mediawiki (from Nereo Preto)

Hi Christo,

you offered, some days ago, to help me install a good offline mediawiki editor in my laptop (you say you know how). Now I probably have the time to handle it and -of course- I am still interested. Can you come to my talk page and append something on how we can do it technically?

Many thanks in advance, --Nereo Preto 12:37, 6 March 2007 (CST)

I just downloaded and installed the WOS package. It seems to work fine at a first glance! I'll do some writing in the next days and let you know how well it goes on the long run. Then, if you want, we can lay down an article on it. I also believe it might be useful to many users out there. But for now, MANY MANY THANKS!!! Ciao, --Nereo Preto 13:53, 8 March 2007 (CST)

I am working hard on the WOS package, which behaves well, mostly. I cannot make citations work right, though (those things as <ref name="aName">Extended citation</ref>). Should I perhaps take something from a page in CZ and copy it to my local Wikitext? If you don't know the answer, never mind: I can live with it. Ciao for now --Nereo Preto 14:45, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

state associations

Christo, you made an insertion that is interesting:

  • that the two national associations (AMA and ACA) should remain separate

I always read that to mean the two chiropractic associations (ICA and ACA) should remain separate. If you are right, it indicates much less of a conspiracy than my read. Where did you get that impression? -Matt Innis (Talk) 16:41, 8 March 2007 (CST)

I think that was a misread, if anything, Matt. I can't think of reading anywhere which two associations were being referred to, and it never struck me that the phrase was about the ICA and ACA. Your reading makes more sense, but where would the original quotes be found? They should specify... For me the worst part is the "suppression of research", but one would like to see what exactly that refers to. Is it significant or an after-the-fact reason for not doing research? --Christo Muller (Talk) 02:35, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Wikipedia Credit

Hi Louis, I like the growth in the number of military authors I see; the subject interests me, but I have little expertise in the field. I noticed at USS Rankin (AKA-103) that one of the other CZ authors added the "Article from Wikipedia" tag (checkmark on edit page, at the bottom). I have my doubts about this, and for the following reasons: 1.) The original is a modifed DANFS article, not a Wikipedia product. 2.) You did the work on the WP article, so any copyright is yours to change anyway. 3.) You have modified the article to your own liking on Citizendium and the "new" article is not modified WP, it is modified DANFS. 4.) I doubt very much that the person who added the WP tag had any idea of the WP article's history. 5) You clearly state that you use DANFS as reference, not Wikipedia.

The reason I write this is because I feel that it may be an issue that needs to be clarified, so that the right persons (yourself, in this case) and original citations (DANFS) should get credit, and that this is a matter which deserves discussion in the forums, specifically relating to these cases where an open source like DANFS is the original. I do not wish to make such a posting on the forums without gauging your opinion. Regards, Christo Muller (Talk) 17:24, 29 March 2007 (CDT)

I have wondered about that. A lot of the articles I want to bring over from Wikipedia are ones where 80% or more is DANFS stuff, improved and Wikified by me, with only a negligible amount of the article having been contributed by anyone else. I've put a lot of work into making them very good articles, and it's a pain to consider "rewriting" them just to make them not-Wikipedia. There are probably over 100 of these, so there would be a LOT of work if I brought them over.
There are also a dozen or two short articles that I've written from scratch, where 90% or more of what's in Wikipedia is my original work. It sure would be nice to bring them over without rewriting them, or making substantial changes, etc., just to make them different from Wikipedia. Seems like a lot of work for (almost) nothing, and it's hard to make the changes because the articles are so short.
It's different where most of the article was written by others. I'm working on one of those, Ann Coulter, which IMHO is a horrible article on Wikipedia, mostly written by others. I'm cutting it back significantly and adding some new material. In the end, the WP content will be recognizable to anybody comparing the two articles, but the CZ article will be quite a bit different. Louis F. Sander 17:45, 29 March 2007 (CDT)

Infant Colic

We should be able to get this approved -and it needs approval, I think. Please look at talk page. Great work! Nancy Sculerati 11:09, 9 April 2007 (CDT)

Hi guys. You'll notice the chimes are a'ringing on the approval bell. Clearly there has been some serious work in the last day or two, and Nancy, clearly a lot of that work has been yours. Christo & one other editor (or not christo & two other editors) need to sign on and then we'll use the most recent version for approval. How's that sound? -- Sarah Tuttle 09:29, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

Congratulations Christo! I have a feeling this is just the first of many... especially now that you are out of jail?:-) --Matt Innis (Talk) 22:30, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

Welcome, new editor! We're very glad you've joined us. Here are pointers for a quick start. Also, when you get a chance, please read The Editor Role. You can look at Getting Started and our help system for other introductory pages. It is also important, for project-wide matters, to join the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list. Announcements are also available via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see your edits on Recent changes soon. Nancy Sculerati 21:23, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Pain

Hey Christo! I've missed you! Question for you, is any of the Pain article from wikipedia? Aleks clicked the box, but I think it was becasue it is hard to tell where that first history came from. --Matt Innis (Talk) 12:54, 16 April 2007 (CDT)

Contraception

I have been the primary author of an article on the medical methods of contraception - Contraception (medical methods). It has just been nominated for approval by Gareth Leng. Could you kindly read it? As a physician, I encourage you to edit as needed. put your comments on the talk page, if you support the nomination-please add your name to the template. If you believe that the article should not be approved, please remove the template for nomination. Obviously I hope that you support it, but I want to make it clear that you do have that option. Thanks, Nancy Sculerati 06:11, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

How long to get a simple typo fixed in the approved article?

Please look at the discussion at talk:contraception (medical methods) under the same heading that appears above this comment. A gross error such as this would not take months to fix on Wikipedia, but here it does. Michael Hardy 08:32, 16 September 2007 (CDT)

Returning to Citizendium: an update on the project and how to get involved

Hello - some time ago you became part of the Citizendium project, but we haven't seen you around for a while. Perhaps you'd like to update your public biography or check on the progress of any pages you've edited so far.

Citizendium now has over 16,000 articles, with more than 150 approved by specialist Editors such as yourself, but our contributor numbers require a boost. We have an initiative called 'Eduzendium' that brings in students enrolled on university courses to write articles for credit, but we still need more Editors across the community to write, discuss and approve material. There are some developed Health Sciences articles that could be improved and approved, and some high-priority Applied Sciences articles that we don't have yet. You can also create new articles via this guide, and contribute to some Health Sciences pages that have been recently edited - or to any others on Citizendium, since you're a general Author as well as a specialist Editor. You may like to contribute to discussions in the forums, and might consider running for an elected position on the Management and Editorial Councils that oversee the project.

If you have any questions, let me know via my Talk page or by leaving a message below this one. Thank you for signing up and reading this update; I hope that you will look in on our community soon. John Stephenson 05:24, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
