N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine, mostly referred to as TEMED, is a chemical which stabilizes free radicals, such as ammonium persulfate, thereby improving the formation of polymeric materials, such as polyacrylamide gels, for example, used in electrophoresis.
