Megiddo is a tel in Israel, whose name is linked to the Biblical Book of Revelations concept of the ultimate battle at Armageddon. There is a significant archeological site with evidence of past battles,[1] designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.[2] The tel was first excavated in 1903, and since then has been the subject of archaeological investigations in the 1920s, 1930s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1990s.Cite error: Closing </ref>

Current battle, however, goes on between the regional authorities and tourist developers, the latter wanting to build a second international airport for Israel. [3] It would be based on a decommissioned air force base. [4]
