A problem about this list is that it gauges the interest only among people with CZ accounts. Most of the many people--it must be dozens--who have written to me to ask whether we'll have CZ in this language or that in fact lack accounts. --Larry Sanger 09:10, 17 September 2007 (CDT)
- OK. I replied to other points on Larry's talk page about this back-of-an-envelope idea of mine. But I think we should start with who we have rather than people who might never sign up anyway. Perhaps it would be better to ensure that the initial group of contributors to the new wiki are on the English one as well, so those of us who aren't speakers of that language have some idea of what they're doing in the early stages, and so that we have people who are trustworthy. This is particularly important with a language like Japanese, where thanks to the writing system, others will have no idea what the content of the pages is. - I think an internal gauge is a good idea because it can indicate who already knows the system well and can potentially play a role in helping things start up. BTW, I can handle myself fairly in several languages, but not with enough confidence to put my name up. —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 02:09, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
