One description used by the Central Intelligence Agency includes the British Indian Ocean Territory, Myanmar and countries of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka
Southwest Asia includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia and sometimes Iran.
