David Miliband (born 15 July 1965) is a UK politician who is currently Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, responsible for scrutinising the work of the UK's foreign minister. He is a frontrunner in the Labour Party leadership contest, and was previously Foreign Secretary. Prior to this, he was Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. He has been the Member of Parliament for South Shields since 2001.
