Professor of social policy, law, and women's studies at the Heller School at [[Brandeis University]], is an attorney.  She is a member of the advisory board of the [[Feminist Sexual Ethics Project]]. She was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1980, working at a law firm, and in 1981 she became special counsel to the assistant secretary of the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights. From 1982 to 1983, she served as adviser to the chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission., where she worked for [[Clarence Thomas]]; she testified against Thomas for sexual harrassment during his [[Supreme Court of the United States]] confirmation hearing. From 1983 to 1986, she was an assistant professor at [[Oral Roberts University]] In 1986, she joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and then was a visiting faculty member at the University of California's Institute for the Study of Social Change and Brandeis University's Women's Studies Program.
