I am an assistant professor in the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, where I teach various graduate and undergraduate courses on American politics. My research deals mostly with race, social movements, democratization, and political parties in the United States and South Africa. I earned my BA in Political Science from Hunter College of the City University of New York and my MA and PhD in Government from the University of Virginia.
