Most sources seem to agree that monocytes circulate, transform to circulating macrophages, and then the macrophages enter tissue. The only thing I've seen to the contrary, according to the Merck Manual, is that monocytes only become macrophages when they enter tissue. Anything to this?[[User:Howard C. Berkowitz|Howard C. Monocyte vs macrophage
Most sources seem to agree that monocytes circulate, transform to circulating macrophages, and then the macrophages enter tissue. The only thing I've seen to the contrary, according to the Merck Manual, is that monocytes only become macrophages when they enter tissue. Anything to this?Howard C.
