This article contains a number of unbacked assertions. For example, the statement that "The Federal Reserve Board did not create the depression.." is unsupported by any evidence, justification or reference to an acknowledged authority. Economic history or economic gossip?

This article contains a number of unbacked assertions. For example, the statement that "The Federal Reserve Board did not create the depression.." is unsupported by any evidence, justification or reference to an acknowledged authority. That statement might be true (although followers of Milton Friedman would, of course, disagree), but it is presented only as the unsupported opinion of an unknown writer and as such is of little value to the reader. Such unbacked assertions fall short of the standard that should be set by a reputable encyclopedia, and until they have been eliminated from this article, it should not be considered for approval. Great Depression

The paragraph on the Great Depression conflicts with the article on the subject and I plan to replace it with a summary of Great Depression in the United States. Nick Gardner 10:51, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
