The African National Congress (ANC) is a major political party in South Africa. It has been the governing party since 1994, when South Africa held its first nationwide multiracial election. Prior to its reconstitution as a political party during the 1990s, it was a leading social movement organization of the the antiapartheid movement.
History
Founding
The ANC was founded in Bloemfontein in 1912.
