Hi Tim, | Hi Tim, | ||

I have to confess I do not have much time or particularly enjoy forum discussions and the like; I like writing history. I will communicate what you ask me to, but if I get side tracked into endless explanations, I will stop discussing. That's one of WP problems, I become unable to use my limited available time on anything but debating the nature of the content of the pin of a needle. So in all friendship please help me strike the right balance if I am to continue to participate. I believe I have done all you have asked, so please help me with more instruction if I have missed something. I checked the WP content box as directed by you, but reluctantly, as 2/3 of the content has been deleted for WP. [[User:Tim Westbrook|Tim Westbrook]] 11:00, 16 May 2009 (UTC) |

I designed and contributed the vast majority of the material in this and comparable articles at Wikipedia. Much of my contribution there has been deleted or redesigned. I intend to reproduce it with a professional design and expand it. Tim Westbrook 19:17, 16 May 2009 (UTC) | |

Hi Tim,
This looks a lot like the Wikipedia article to me. We can bring in Wikipedia stuff that we ourselves have written 100%, otherwise the policy seems contradictory and vague to me, at least at the moment. At the very least, please check off the Wikipedia box down at the bottom of the screen on the next edit you make.
Then, on this discussion page, you may have to add the Wikipedia template at the very top, under the subpages template -- the WP template is {{WPauthor} with a second squiggly bracket at the end. And then fill in the info in the box. Take a look at the page I did a couple of years ago from an article that I brought in from WP -- and on which I later did *substantial* rewriting. http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Talk:Pancho_Gonzales
Even though I'm a Constable I'm *still* not clear on this WP business. If you bring in an article that has been written by other people (including yourself, but with others involved) and then just dump it here and leave it, I can delete it at any time. That's not allowed, and the policy is pretty clear. But what happens when you take a WP article that has been substantially written by other people, you bring it here, and then do some *minor* editing on it, I just don't know. Sometimes they get deleted, sometimes they don't. You probably ought to look in the Forums to see what discussions have been had about this. Or you might want to start a new Forum discussion yourself about it. Hayford Peirce 19:37, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Hayford,
Pardon my lack of understanding, but I thought I had responded and you had said hooray and proceed. I am still learning where things are written so I may have placed the comment in the wrong place. These are articles that I designed and wrote mostly. So you are correct they were WP articles, but I am leaving Wikipedia and trying this environment because significant change/elimination is being randomly made to the design and content. For instance member sorting is limited to House/District and sorting by State/District and House/Party is deleted. There are other examples. I will look for the WP boxes you reference, as I have not seen them.
Tim Westbrook 10:41, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
