Naming convention

I could be wrong, but I thought the usual naming convention is to have a singular title. In this case, "Steroid". In this way, the first line would be changed to "A steroid, (or steroid hormone), is a powerful hormone with drastic effects, both good and bad, when artificially introduced into living systems." Also, I can't decide how much information to put on this page regarding each of the classes of steroids. At present, I think more detailed pages for each steroid, or class of steroids, is needed to detail the physiological role of each group or each particular steroid. David E. Great start on this page. Can we change organization to something like:

Robert, I agree with you. I have been wondering if what I have written so far should be a subpage called steroid biosynthesis, are a section. However, I always like to see pictures of things being discussed. The health related topics should dominate the article, with the synthesis as a fill-in. Done, please check some small rewordings I did at 1) from the beginning of Progestagens section I moved a sentence to the Synthesis section, 2) start of sex steroids I reversed a sentence so the links to the more specific articles would be easier to find, 3) I added a few words to the Medical uses section. - Robert Badgett 15:26, 1 January 2008 (CST)

In order for the biochemistry to flow correctly, we should probably start discussing the largest steroids first. Then the biochemistry/structures will flow in an orderly fashion. So probably, in this order

• Progestagens
• Corticosteroids
  • Glucocorticoids
  • Mineralcorticoids
• Sex steroids
  • androgens
  • estrogens
