Montgomery, Alabama
Montgomery, Alabama is the Capital of the U.S. state of Alabama, and a major center in the Civil Rights Movement of the mid 20th century, including the Montgomery bus boycott and the Selma to Montgomery marches. The city is located in south central Alabama along the Alabama River. In the 1950's, Montgomery was in the news for the Montgomery bus boycott and the Selma to Montgomery marches.
As of 2020, the city had 200,603 people, and the metropolitan area has 386,047. Montgomery is comparable in size with Birmingham (~90 miles north and slightly west) and Huntsville (north end of the state).
The city has a large military presence due to Maxwell Air Force Base.
