Rapids Prince was a steamship built for service on the Saint Lawrence River.[1]
In 1923, after a rudder chain broke, the vessel ran aground on a shoal in the Lachine Rapids.[1] Her passengers and crew were successfully evacuated, by speed boat, but the vessel had to be left on the shoal for forty days, until the close of navigation. The cables, strung from shore, used to haul her off the shoals would have blocked the navigation of other vessels.
