Shinzo Abe (安倍晋三 Abe Shinzoo; born 21st September 1954) has since December 2012 been the Prime Minister of Japan,[1] having become leader of the Liberal Democratic Party the previous September. It is the second time he has occupied the office of prime minister, the first occasion being from September 2006 until September 2007, when various factors including low approval ratings, the failure to pass an anti-terrorism law and ill health led him to quit.[2]
