Incinerated [r]: Burned into nothingness. In Greek mythology, when a human looked on a naked god or goddess in their "full glory" (according to Classics scholar Elizabeth Vandiver), the human was incinerated instantly. In modern parlance, trash and waste is sometimes incinerated when there isn't enough room for landfill. An incinerator is a furnace designed to burn things. [e]
