The Oregon Trail was an educational computer game developed for the purpose of teaching grade school-aged students about survival expectations along the path of northwestern pioneers during the mid-to-late 1800s. The goal by the end of the game was to attain the most points possible by making proper decisions regarding supplies purchased, travel time, the ability to "hunt", crossing rivers, and other chance encounters.
