Neuschwanstein

Neuschwanstein Castle is a Romanesque style building in Southern Germany. The castle was designed by opera set designer Christian Jank for King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and dedicated to composer Richard Wagner, who was a close friend of Ludwig's. Construction of the castle began in 1869, and continued until the king's death in 1886. The castle was opened for tourism in the summer of 1886 by Ludwig's uncle, Prince Regent Luitpold, and, although incomplete, is one of the most well-known and visited locations in Germany.
