Born 1954, school and studies in Vienna.

1973 - 83 Studies at the university of Vienna: sociology, philosophy & political science. Master degree in sociology (1983).

1982 - now Professional experience in hotel management & tourism: assistant hotel manager. From 2000 hotel director. Special interest in reservation & communication systems in hotels.

1985 Initiatives for videotex systems in tourism (Hotel Keepers Network),

1987 Market studies & hotel software developer for Apple Computers.

1988 First field trip to the USA. Software developer (Hyper Card) for Apple Computer Austria, later developer supporter (HyperCard Hotline).

1989-1991 Three field trips to the USA, lectures and seminars on hypermedia, and digital media.

Foundation of the experimental project "Libraries of the Mind" – experimental realisation of digital media and "Wissensarchiv" (Archive of Knowledge) - research of possible applications in the field of alternative medicine. Publications in both fields.

1992 "Global Village Tour" to the USA, Hawaii, Australia and Singapore, start of "GIVE" project. GIVE means "globally integrated village environment" and is an example of a new way of organizing science: to define the desired innovation and then try to include all relevant information through a network ("bootstrap concept"). GIVE is a non-profit association under Austrian law that does research and development on human settlements and social innovations linked to the potentials of telecommunication.

Presentations and publications on the topic "Telematics and New Living Spaces". Institutionalisation of GIVE in the "Center for Social Innovation". Presentation of GIVE at artistic, architectural, technical and political events, many articles in newspapers and periodicals.

1993 Scientific coordinator of the "Global Village 93 Conference" at Viennas Technical University on "Architecture and City Planning in the Age of Telecommunication".

1994 Editor of the book "Life and Work in the Global Village”

1995 Televillage development project study in Austria with IBM and convened Viennas second "Global Village 95" conference . Speeches at conferences, e.g. Televillage Budapest

1996 represented city of Vienna at UN Habitat Dialogue about global communication. Co-Chaired the European Telework Conference (Track on Sustainable Development). Project manager of the Austrian section of MUNICIPIA (MUltilingual Network for the Interaction of CIty Planners and Involved local Actors), a 5FWP European telematics project coordinated by Censis Rome.

1997 Organised Third Global Village Symposium.

1998 Initiated an event which became part of Austrias EU Presidency program: CULTH, ”Cultural Heritage in the Global Village” – a one week symposium in the Liechtenstein Palace on the collaboration of museums, libraries and archives. Left the Center of Social Innovation and became independent. Start of Monastery Project ”Mljet” in Croatia.

1999 Other telematic-related events (Internet Fiesta Austria). Second Book ”Networks”.

2000 Joined forces with the Lower Austrian Village renewal and worked on educational alliances around local cultural portal points and second generation electronic cafés. Anti – Digital Divide project with Cameroon.

2001 Special focus on knowledge networking (Economic significance of Open Source networks).

2002 Second international Symposium CULTH, Preparation of an integrated curriculum on community informatics and regional information coaching, presentation of this concept at the Conference ”Building Bridges of Democracy” of Europa House Budapest.

2003 Start of the projects "European Rural development by means of Education"/[ http://www.dorfwiki.org/wiki.cgi?ERDE ]ERDE

2004 Co-Organizer of the 3rd international Oekonux Conference "Wealth by Copyleft"

Foundation of GIVE Landlab in Kirchbach,
