Template talk:Help
Steve, I don't mean to be negative here, but can we discuss, first, whether this is a good idea? Are you suggesting that anyone is going to monitor Category:Help requests? Are you also suggesting that we will start encouraging people who want help actually to make use of this template?
I'm not sure either of these suggestions is well justified. There is more than one way to skin a cat. For instance, right now, people are invited to post their questions on the forums. Are you suggesting that we tell them to stop doing so?
Let's examine the assumptions behind our templates (and other technical innovations)...remember, we said not that long ago that we should be discussing all new templates at this point... --Larry Sanger 00:24, 18 July 2007 (CDT)
- Hard facts are presenting that some editors are basically clueless about working a wiki, see here for an example. I'm afraid it is intimidating to some, and that for everyone ONE that says something FIVE say nothing and just drop inactive. But sure, we can point a link to the Forums instead, although that is not at all as easy as If you need help, just copy {{help}}, click here, and paste it in along with your message. —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 01:31, 18 July 2007 (CDT)
