Welcome to my talkpage. If you leave a message here, I will reply here. Similarly, if I post to your talk page, I will have the page on "watch" and will look there for a reply. I just find it handier to keep all of a conversation in one place. Thanks! Anton

May 22 still
Apologies. I have become over-sensitive to criticism (most especially guised as "trivial questions") and by the time I went back to erase my inappropriate reply to your perfectly reasonable and nice question, you had already seen it, and answered. I'm a bit red-faced, I assure you. Let me give it another try: Generally, edit summaries are only filled out as an indication for why a change has been made. Although that's imnportant when working on the wiki, in the approvals notice board today I kept making dumb mistakes in formatting and spacing and the like, and so never put anything in the summary. I'm a little off my game today (can't you tell?:-) - I never noticed that font business. Probably it's there because that's the title of the section- May 22, and the other stuff just makes it look red to make the section stand out. Like here- if I don't put anything in edit summary when I save the page it will probably come out "May 22 still". I think Citzendium is great, too- and unfortunately, I've become a great big crank. Need a break, and sorry to take it out on you. Nancy Sculerati 12:21, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

No problem :) While doing some work for CZ:Statistics I see some pages that need a minor cleanup. BTW, much more complicated cases exist ;-) --Aleksander Stos 06:45, 11 June 2007 (CDT)
Alcohol
Thanks, I didn't know about the suggestion place at that time :-). I can't legally drink either. Yi Zhe Wu 15:49, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
Hi
Thanks! Enjoyed the Ireland article by the way. Former Trinnerhead I see? Nice stuff. Denis Cavanagh 09:05, 24 July 2007 (CDT)
Your drinks are served
Hi Anton, I thought your suggestion seemed a fair challenge. Beer is served. Cheers! --Ian Johnson 12:22, 1 August 2007 (CDT)

Oh, very good. To be honest I put no work towards Kingdom of Oriel and liked the wikipedia version, so I left it as it was. If I come across anything relevant such as that I will add it to the 'see also' section. :) Denis Cavanagh 09:33, 8 August 2007 (CDT)
Oh, thanks! I'll move towards it soon, sometime before the end of the week anyway. I'm looky enough to have had a grandfather obsessed with this kind of stuff and so have a lot of obscure sources locking in our attic somewhere. It'll be kinda fun to add on to it! Denis Cavanagh 09:56, 8 August 2007 (CDT)
Four Courts Image
It seems kind of dark on my LCD so I'm going to see what I can do to enhance it, if you don't mind. --Robert W King 11:39, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
Let me know what you think. I think I got the licensing correct.--Robert W King 12:01, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
- The new version looks much better - replaced the image on Dublin with the new one. Thanks again. Anton Sweeney 05:47, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
Easter Rising
He Anton, was wondering if you could anything to the Easter Rising article? I was going to write something about De Valera but I'm afraid it will be horribly biased against him if I do. Turns out that I'm a committed Collins-ite! Denis Cavanagh 05:21, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
- I can certainly have a look at it over the weekend, though I'd be in the same camp as yourself :P Ideally, I think, we'd have a short paragraph on all the main leaders (with full articles to follow). Just one thing - you might want to cast your eye over CZ:Article Mechanics, which is the Citizendium style guide. Good work, though, its a nicely balanced article. Anton Sweeney 05:52, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. I think seven of them have their own little article - I'm hoping to do a Pearse main article at some stage. Denis Cavanagh 05:55, 10 August 2007 (CDT)

fada
How do you do those fada's on Eamon? Denis Cavanagh 11:25, 15 August 2007 (CDT)
- On Windows XP, hold the 'Alt Gr' key (the one to the immediate right of the spacebar) down while typing the vowel you want the fada to appear over. Capitals with a fada are a pain: Shift + AltGr + vowel :P Anton Sweeney 11:36, 15 August 2007 (CDT)
Thanks. This will make me feel like an Pátriot (definately not an irish word :P)
Valera picture
Regarding to the Eamon de Valera picture, I just discovered that the label on the library picture was "E. de Valera" instead of "Eamon de Valera", if you have any knowledge on Ireland, can you verify whether it is the photo of the Irish president or another E. de Velera? Thanks! Yi Zhe Wu 14:21, 16 August 2007 (CDT)
- Thanks for the clarification, so are we ready to replace the picture with King's modified one yet? Best. Yi Zhe Wu 22:50, 16 August 2007 (CDT)

Butler is ready for approval. As I have been involved as an author, would you do the honors? See CZ:Approval_Process#Sysops_make_it_official_with_the_.7B.7BApproved.7D.7D_template for the how-to. —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 23:52, 17 August 2007 (CDT)

Weekly Wiki
I'm going to be on for the next two hours today... I'm at work and practically no-one else is in the office. We should collaborate on something Irish, not sure what exactly. I made a start at my home county of Monaghan, but I am looking for something else to do, something relative recent? Denis Cavanagh 10:03, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- Just started Counties of Ireland, but then work interfered :P. Oh - still need to checklist that... Collaboration welcome! Alternatively, if you wanted to tackle something bigger, Irish War of Independence could be something to look at? Or if you want something more recent - we've no bios on any of the modern Irish politicians - Bertie Ahern or Mary McAleese could be goos starting points, and then move down? Anton Sweeney 10:11, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- The Irish War of Independance would be a bit rusty, but I'll make a start on Bertie :) Denis Cavanagh 10:25, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- Heh. :-) I would like to see that covered sooner rather than later, though. Following on from the Easter Rising, it leads naturally into an Irish Civil War article - then onto Troubles in Ireland (or something with a better title!) and Peace process in Northern Ireland - thus covering the major events in the history of the island in the 20th and early 21st centuries nicely. But yeah - small steps, and pick topics you have the energy/enthusiasm for. That'd be a lot of work. Might get to have a quick look at Bertie this evening but I'm not sure if I'll be let (its actually sunny out!) Anton Sweeney 10:33, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
lol, Don't worry, I understand that alright! I thought since I'm stuck at work I should do something productive, you know? I'm getting out at six though so you won't see me for love or money. I've a little bit down for Bertie, but don't worry about it, you have a chance to be in the sun, so take it! Denis Cavanagh 10:40, 22 August 2007 (CDT)

Dear Anton, I was a bit surprised by the biography you put on User:Kraig Smith. I feel it's too much of an advertisement. I'd appreciate it if you could have a look with this in mind. If you decide that it's okay, then that's fine with me; it doesn't bother me that much. Best wishes, Jitse Niesen 07:49, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

Staary Anto
Always wanted to do that :-)
I've put up the Anglo-Irish War, its a rough draft but I think we can work towards improving it, if only visually for the moment. Its a sunny day though so I don't hold out much hope for me after work this week! Denis Cavanagh 09:00, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

- Good work on the article. As for the section heading above - I'd say something but then I'd have to replace it with a {nocomplaints} template! :P Anton Sweeney 16:32, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
lol, not a northsider I take it! I'm going to be working on expanding a lot of my articles today (slow day in the office alas) so if you want to jump in on any feel free :-) Denis Cavanagh 03:34, 28 August 2007 (CDT)
- Roysh, that's the first time I've been accused of being a skanger. And by someone living in the bog, no less! OMG! If my Dubes wouldn't get wrecked, I'd jump in the Beemer and head down there so fast... ;-) (Yep, should be about a bit today...) Anton Sweeney
No point in me making a new title for this message, but take a look at my userpage and see the 'course of Modern Irish History'. If there is anything you think should be added in there feel free! (I'm sure I'm leaving things out of the troubles for example)
I'm also thinking of adding in a section of films, popular novels etc. set during famous epochs of Irish History. Things like The Wind That Shakes the Barley is such a good film it deserves its own article Denis Cavanagh 06:44, 2 September 2007 (CDT)
- Ambitious list, but you've a good start there already. The only obvious omission from the southern side of the border I can spot is the 1914 Lockout. Maybe something on Ireland during WWII aswell - though that's covered somewhat in another article. Films - yep, there's no reason whatsoever they can't have their own articles - just where necessary, as with Michael Collins, pointing out "Eh... may not have happened like this really..." Anton Sweeney 10:33, 2 September 2007 (CDT)
lol, I think an article for Poetic License needs to be created though! Denis Cavanagh 10:35, 2 September 2007 (CDT)
- The article can read: Poetic license: See Braveheart." Anton Sweeney 10:38, 2 September 2007 (CDT)
Thanks, Anton! --Larry Sanger 12:30, 6 September 2007 (CDT)
Naming conventions
Hi Anton. I was never comfortable with the insularity of the WP cricket project around naming and this is turning over a new leaf. There's no doubt that, whatever the media or Google counts might indicate, there is a huge percentage of people everywhere who think cricket is a thing that goes Neek! Neek! all night long.......
Best regards. --John Leach 00:48, 19 September 2007 (CDT)
Thanks for volunteering for wikiconverting
Anton, thanks for joining in. And for commenting re Word tables.
Your comment to me
Dear Anton Thanks for the welcoming remarks. Now to the substance of your message to me. I am and have always been a great believer in division and delegation of labor. There are those who are best at creating substative text and there are those who excel in copy-editing and formatting it. There is no way I could have supplied the close to twenty articles in less than a week if I had to learn and follow all your rules and regulations on format and worry about crossing "t"s and dotting "i"s. Besides I'm an old man, retired, without the help of a secretary, and not too prone to learn new tricks. Having said that I will try learning by experience and in fact have modified my style of summission already. Please bare with me and help me do what I am best at and not good at doing myself. Much obliged. Arnold
Martial arts
Anton...wondering if this article should be under Martial arts (General), then we'd have a set of articles - Eastern, Western, and General - with a disambiguation page under Martial arts (disambiguation) pointing to all three. Thoughts? --Michael J. Formica 08:11, 19 November 2007 (CST)
- Hi Michael. That's certainly one way of doing it - but it gives us four articles. Looking at CZ:Naming_Conventions#Disambiguation_in_page_titles, I'd be inclined to go with just three, having the Martial arts page be something of a 'general' article in itself, while pointing to the eastern and western articles and the catalog. What do you think? Anton Sweeney 08:37, 19 November 2007 (CST)
Hilda Geirnger
Good job Anton However there are still 9 notes (i-ix) that need to be wikified as endnotes am I wrong? Also there is a photo that needs to be spliced in. Or isthat someone else's domain? Cheers Arnold
Hilda Geirnger
Would it help if I sent you a Word or PDF copy of the original (prior to inputting into the Citizendium site) draft.
All notes are properly identified there but your system seems to obliterate that information. Hows come?
If you want to see what was submitted please provide a direct e-mail address so I can attach the files.
Arnold
Hilda Geirnger
All notes should be referenced in the text and numerically shown at the end of the article as are the others you have worked on.
Turkey and the Holocaust
Plese Help!!!!!
I screwed up trying to fix someone else's error.
There are now two paragraphs in the references which belong inside the text.
I have fixed one as a footnote but that too should be in the text at the proper place as well.
Just shows to go you!
One should stick to doing what one is best at.
Cheers--Arnold Reisman 18:46, 28 November 2007 (CST)
- Fixed - you'd just left off the closing </ref> tag. Its something I have trouble with too, sometimes - I had to correct about a dozen of my own referencing errors on the Geiringer article last night for pretty much the same reason :-) Note that you can always "go back a step" to revert your own changes to the last "good" version - just click on the 'History' tab of the article, and you'll see an "undo" option. Anton Sweeney 13:38, 29 November 2007 (CST)
Anton Where can I find the button that allows me to inser a footnote someting to the effect [1]
PLEASE ADVISE-- Anton Sweeney 02:59, 30 November 2007 (CST)
Hi Arnold, you need to put the following code at the very end of any page containing references to make them display:
==References==
<div class="references-small"><references/></div>
Once that is in, all references will appear "automagically" in the right order at the bottom of the page. I'm adding that code to this page, so the "reference" you put in above should now appear. Note that you always have to make sure to put in a closing reference tag </ref> at the end of the footnote - otherwise, the program assumes that the whole rest of the page is part of the footnote. Anton Sweeney 02:59, 30 November 2007 (CST)
References
- ↑ I dont see that in the above as is the case withLink titleor == Headline text == or link title
Hilda Geiringer
Hi Anton Followed your suggestion to break the article up into titled sections.
This however made me rethink the article's logic flow.
Hence some rearrangement of paragraphs.
You are welcome to do more in this regard. Arnold--Arnold Reisman 11:38, 30 November 2007 (CST)
Hey Anton
Good job!
We make a good team.
Cheers
Arnold--Arnold Reisman 17:08, 30 November 2007 (CST)
Anton I still cant do the notes/references. So please create note 26 to read: Proofreading by Dr. Karin Doerr - Concordia University, Montreal, Canada.
And strike that from note 25.
Thanks
Two new articles
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Carl_Ebert
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Margarete_Sch%C3%BCtte-Lihotzky
The way these were entered should make wikifying a lot easier.
Yes or no?
Who should I send the images to?
Please advise. Cheers --Arnold Reisman 20:07, 1 December 2007 (CST)
Emotional dysregulation
Anton: I assumed that was the case. I put it out there because the article is not a stub, and there's little or nothing more to say on the topic. Thanks for your help on it. Blessings... Michael J. Formica 09:47, 7 December 2007 (CST)

Do you fancy collaborating on something Irish? I'm stumped though for writing Irish articles at the moment. Denis Cavanagh 08:59, 16 December 2007 (CST)
- Yup, absolutely - very busy at the moment but should be easing off (hopefully!) later in the week... what topic do you want to cover? Anton Sweeney 08:27, 18 December 2007 (CST)
I'm not sure... Maybe we'll work on something after Christmas? Denis Cavanagh 08:31, 19 December 2007 (CST)
- Maybe follow the history sequence we'd fallen into, then? I think the 1913 Lockout and the Civil War are next on the hitlist? Anton Sweeney 10:29, 19 December 2007 (CST)

Date of photo
I estimated the date Image:Rutherford.jpg was taken but I may be significantly off. If you know better, you might want to give it a better estimate. Stephen Ewen 21:34, 25 December 2007 (CST)
- Nope, no further info than what I posted. Incidentally - how do you use/get the image upload template? There used to be an automatically generated blank template with instructions, but I didn't get that when I uploaded this image. Anton Sweeney 05:54, 26 December 2007 (CST)

Good man Anton!
Got the Irish Troubles up and running. Its the kind of thing I'll add a paragraph to here and there when I get a chance. Goodluck. Denis Cavanagh 13:24, 13 January 2008 (CST)
- Nice start. See you've got to grips with the dreaded {subpages} too ;-) Just to note, the template needs to go on the talk page too - and that prompts you to create an Approvals page too. Anton Sweeney 17:09, 13 January 2008 (CST)
TCD
Got Trinity College Dublin up there. Since you also went to it, you might know something to write about? Just thought I'd let you know :-) Denis Cavanagh 08:25, 1 February 2008 (CST)
- Would you believe I was *this* close (holds up thumb and forefinger only a tiny bit apart) to getting a secondhand two-volume book set on the history of Trinity from its foundation, to the 19th century, the other week - then someone bought the first volume before I could :-( Didn't see the point of just buying the second one... Will add to the article when I can. When it gets warmer I may even take photos... Anton Sweeney 09:20, 1 February 2008 (CST)
