I am a 24-year-old journalism student, college newspaper editor and media relations consultant, currently residing in Richmond, Calif. Beginning in the spring of 2008, I will be attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a double major in journalism and northern studies.

In the 2006-07 academic year, I was editor in chief of the Contra Costa College Advocate, a nationally-honored weekly student newspaper. Our work was honored with numerous national and state awards, including a JACC Pacesetter, an ACP National Newspaper Pacemaker Finalist, Honorable Mention and Third Place ACP Best of Show. I placed second in the 2007 two-year college Reporter of the Year competition and third in the 2007 Diversity Story of the Year contest.

From 2005 to 2007 I served as media relations representative for GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing, a championship-winning professional sports car racing team. I've also worked as the communications director for California Generation Dean during the 2003-04 primary election campaign.

My particular personal interests include motorsports, aviation, railroads, travel, the environment of the West and politics.
