Paul Prestopino
Paul Prestopino (Sept. 20, 1939 - Jul. 16, 2023) was a folk musician and sound engineer from Roosevelt, New Jersey.
Paul was a contributor to the lively 1960s Folk Revival scene in New York City's Greenwich Village. He toured and recorded as a multi-instrumental backup musician with the nationally popular Mitchell Trio, and later toured extensively with the now-legendary group Peter, Paul & Mary. And as a technician with The Record Plant Remote, the Record Plant's studio-on-wheels mobile operation, Prestopino worked as a sound engineer for countless musicians. As a result of his skill as an accompanist on many fretted instruments and of his availability during off-site recordings, Prestopino also sometimes ended up on hit records by major rock stars, including Arrowsmith, Rick Derringer and Alice Cooper. He also played various fretted instruments for recording sessions with notables such as Pete Seeger, John Denver, Tom Paxton, Graham Parker, Christine Lavin, and Judy Collins.
