StarCraft is a fantasy military real-time-strategy (RTS) multiplayer video game produced by Blizzard Entertainment and initially released on Mary 31, 1998. Blizzard eventually released a number of patches, 1.161 being the most recent; three expansion packs, with Bood War the most recent and comprehensive; and one sequel, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which was released on July 27, 2010 after almost seven years of development.

[Professional Leagues]

StarCraft: Brood War is still a popular RTS with several professional leagues, most notably in South Korea. Professionals compete on an individual basis in two individual "Star Leagues" - Ongamenet Starleague and MBCgame Starleague - and, beginning in 2002, in team formats sponsored, each with its own corporate sponsor plus Air Force Ace, which is sponsored by the Korean Air Force.

Three players have won six individual league tournaments over their career: Nada, Jaedong, and iloveoov.

Korean e-Sports Players Association (KeSPA) publishes monthly player rankings based on their recent games, both team and individual.
