Video of Kid Foley and Sailor Lil, two Bowery dancers, performing the so-called tough dance,[1] a waltz from roughly the same time as the spiel, but performed by adults. The dance "not only permitted physical contact, it celebrated it. Indeed, the essence of tough dancing was its suggestion of sexual intercourse".[2]
