How does it differ from Astology?

Is it just an important component of Astrology, or what? I'm certainly a Know-Nothing about Astrology, but it certainly sounds about the same to me. Although maybe Astrology can be "used" on a day-to-day basis to make important decisions, and the other is *very* longterm -- ie, at birth, that's the way your whole life is now fixed? In either case, geez....

I'm sure I know less about this stuff than you do. I read the word (until today unknown to me) when reading about the history of astronomy. Google gave me the impression that it was one of the techniques of astrology. I still have my school dictionary of Greek, so I played the etymologist. If you have any doubts, please go ahead, you may even ask for deletion. I wouldn't have written it if it weren't write-o-thon day.--Paul Wormer 17:12, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
