Quick Start | About us | Help system | Start a new article | For Wikipedians

Tasks: start a new article • add basic, wanted or requested articles • add definitionsadd metadata • edit new pages

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start, and see Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any user or the editors for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! John Stephenson 00:00, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Flipped Image

The text on James Joyce's book is a dead giveaway!--Robert W King 14:03, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

That's how Mina took the photograph, through a mirror. If you look carefully you can see the smudges where the bar staff forgot to wipe. :-) --William Porquet 15:10, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

If you flip the image, it will be "correct", if you so wish ;) --Robert W King 14:17, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

I appreciate the offer (I have Photoshop too), but I daren't offend the artist who wanted to make a statement with a touch of trompe-l'œil. --William Porquet 15:27, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

Year 2038 bug

Hi William. Nice article! I've taken the liberty of moving it to Year 2038 bug per our naming conventions and adding in some wikilinks. I've also added the CZ:The Article Checklist. Note that you should avoid writing in the first person (e.g., "I have noted...") as others will eventually work on the article too. Regards, Anton Sweeney 08:33, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

Hi Anton! Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it's a work in progress, and I'm rewriting an original draft of my article to take it away from first-person. Cheers, William Porquet 016:00, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

Heh, as someone who spent two years working on large apps/databases on the millennium bug pre-Y2K, I'm looking forward to the "Y2k38 bug? What Y2k38 bug?" stories in mainstream press in 31 years... Anton Sweeney 17:43, 18 August 2007 (CDT)

Wills, I love your User Page, best I've seen. Opening paragraph, incredible.

Look forward to working with you. --Anthony.Sebastian (Talk) 22:09, 7 November 2007 (CST)
