This template may be used in one of four ways:

• Without operants. This is the default. If you don't know which option to use or are confused about how to use this template, use this option and ask a constable to help you: {{PD}}
• If the copyright on the media has expired: {{PD|old}}
• With a specified copyright holder who has released the media into the public domain and is a Citizendium contributor: {{PD|user|Real Name}}
• With any other specified copyright holder who has released the media into the public domain: {{PD|author|Name of person or entity}}
  • You may also use this operant to point to an author's page at Wikimedia or elsewhere: {{PD|author|[http://anypage.com Name of person or entity]}}
