STS-1 was the first manned space mission in the Space Transport System (STS) program conducted by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). A crew of two NASA astronauts, John Young and Robert Crippen, conducted the two day, six-hour test flight aboard Space Shuttle Columbia.
