Harry A. Blackmun

Harry A. Blackmun (1908 - 1999) was an American attorney who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1970 to 1994. First serving as a law clerk and then later, a judge on the Eighth Circuit court, Blackmun was selected in 1970 for the Supreme Court by President Richard Nixon and ultimately became one of the most liberal justices on the Court. He is best known as the author of the Court's opinion in Roe v. Wade.
