a birth control device that is 99+% effective in preventing pregnancy, and by removing the device the woman's fertility can be restored; it is a 1- to 2-inch piece of flexible plastic installed by a doctor into a woman's uterus, where it remains long-term to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.
