Bluetooth is an industrial standard developed in the 1990s by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) for data transmission between devices over short distances using wireless technology (WPAN). Connectionless and connection-based transmissions from point to point and ad-hoc or piconets are possible. [1] The name 'Bluetooth' is derived from the Danish King Harald ‘Bluetooth’ Gormsson, who united warring parts of Norway and Denmark.
