Amber Rudd (born 1st August 1963) was the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in the British government, from November 2018 to September 2019, when she resigned from the Government and parliamentary party in protest against the Government's policies in relation to the European Union. She was the Home Secretary (internal affairs minister) from July 2016 to April 2018, when she was forced to resign over her department's treatment of some West Indians who had lived in Britain for decades. She was previously minister for energy and climate change. She is also the Member of Parliament for Hastings and Rye, currently sitting as an independent.
