In talking about writing, objects are things that are not actions. They may be perceived with the five senses of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. They may also be perceived by feeling, thinking and remembering. While a rose is an object, a memory is an object also. You see a tree, so tree is an object. Your hear music, so music is also an object. An object spoken of is not the action spoken of in a remark.
