A mouse (plural mice) is a small mammal in the order rodentia. The most common mice to most people are the common house mouse and the field mouse. Although some mice are kept as pets and white mice are traditionally used as laboratory specimens, in general the mouse is considered a pest.

One of Robert Burns' best-known poems is To a Mouse [1], in which he apologizes to the unfortunate beast after destroying here nest with a plough.
