John Wesley (1703-91) was a Church of England clergyman and organizational genius of eighteenth century Methodism. Along with his brother, Charles Wesley (1707-88), a gifted poet and hymn writer, John set the course for a revival of Christian faith centered in England, but with an impact that touched adjoining countries and even the colonies that would later become the United States.
