The vagina is a canal in female mammals connecting the uterus to the external genital orifice, serving as part of the female reproductive tract. Although "vagina" is frequently used to mean the entirety of lower female genitalia, it specifically references the part of the body connecting the uterus to the outside of the body. Non-mammalian female animals also have similar body parts that may be referred to as a vagina.
