Welcome Page

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! D. Matt Innis 16:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Nice job in U S Naval Academy

John, welcome to Citizendium. I saw your additions to United_States_Naval_Academy and found them very interesting. Thanks for authoring in Citizendium! Pat Palmer 16:15, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Also welcome. I put in a definition for USS Ramage (DDG-61), and would be glad to expand on the ship or VADM Ramage. Howard C. Berkowitz 16:24, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I responded with interest to your SEAL and related questions just below them, on my user page. Go for it! Howard C. Berkowitz 20:00, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

CZ: United States Navy Subgroup

John, this is mostly a heads-up. I've created CZ: United States Navy Subgroup, CZ: United States Marine Corps Subgroup, and CZ: Royal Navy Subgroup. Yes, there's also CZ: United States Army Subgroup. Note also there's CZ: Pacific War Subgroup and CZ: Wars of Vietnam Subgroup/

By no means are these all-inclusive indices; it's rather cumbersome to add existing articles although I've been using them for new articles that are pertinent. Yes, I suppose every AKA article we have should be in there, but I shudder at the thought -- even though the old gators are in better form as articles, I think the Ticos, Burkes, LAs, etc. take priority, as does history.

I intended them less as an index than as a potential recruiting tool, to show knowledgeable people what we have and what could be improved. While they certainly can be shown now, I tend to think we should defer systematic recruiting (e.g., to mailing lists) until the Charter and community governance are a bit further along.

I haven't quite decided how to organize, into subgroups, topics such as insurgency and special operations. There's also a little interest in general nautical topics including navigation and electronics. Howard C. Berkowitz 20:55, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
